Classification of galvanized welded pipes
Classification by material:
Carbon steel galvanized welded pipe: With carbon steel as the base material, it is galvanized and widely used in construction, machinery and other fields.
Alloy steel galvanized welded pipe: With alloy steel as base material, it is suitable for occasions with higher pressure and load.
Classification by outer diameter:
Small diameter galvanized welded pipe: The outer diameter is usually between 15mm and 50mm.
Medium diameter galvanized welded pipe: The outer diameter is usually between 50mm and 100mm.
Large diameter galvanized welded pipe: The outer diameter is usually above 100mm.
Classification by wall thickness:
Thin-wall galvanized welded pipe: thinner wall, suitable for low pressure and light load occasions.
Thick wall galvanized welded pipe: thicker wall, suitable for high pressure and heavy load occasions.
Classification by purpose:
Structural Galvanized Welded Pipe: Used in structural applications such as buildings, bridges, etc.
Galvanized welded pipe for fluid transportation: used for the transportation of fluids such as water and gas.
Galvanized welded pipe for power use: used for brackets and protective pipes of power facilities.
Classification by production process:
Straight seam galvanized welded pipe: produced by straight seam welding process, suitable for general use.
Spiral galvanized welded pipe: produced by spiral welding process, suitable for large diameter and high strength requirements.
Advantages
Excellent anti-corrosion performance: The galvanized layer can effectively prevent oxidation and corrosion on the surface of the steel pipe, prolonging its service life, and is particularly suitable for use in humid or harsh environments.
High strength: Galvanized welded pipes are usually made of high-quality carbon steel or alloy steel, have good mechanical strength and toughness, and can withstand greater pressure and load.
Good welding performance: When welding galvanized welded pipes, the strength and toughness of the welded joints are good, and they are suitable for various welding processes.
Economical: The production cost of galvanized welded pipes is relatively low, and due to their strong corrosion resistance, the frequency of maintenance and replacement is reduced, thereby reducing long-term use costs.
Diverse specifications: Galvanized welded pipes are available in a variety of outer diameters and wall thicknesses to meet the needs of different projects and applications.
Aesthetics: The galvanized welded pipe has a smooth surface and beautiful appearance, and is suitable for occasions that require appearance, such as furniture and decorative structures.
Environmental protection: The production and use of galvanized welded pipes are relatively environmentally friendly and meet the requirements of modern sustainable development.
Production process
Raw material preparation:
Choose the right steel (e.g. carbon steel or alloy steel), usually available in coil or strip form.
Cutting and forming:
The steel coil is cut to the required width and then rolled into a tube by a forming machine. During the forming process, the edges of the steel strip are heated and prepared for welding.
Welding:
The edges of the formed steel pipes are welded together using processes such as high frequency welding or arc welding to form a welded pipe. After welding, the temperature at the weld will drop rapidly to form a strong joint.
Cooling and straightening:
After welding, the welded pipe will be cooled and then straightened to ensure the straightness and dimensional accuracy of the pipe.
Cutting:
Cut the welded pipe into required length according to customer’s needs.
Surface treatment:
Clean the welded pipe to remove surface oxides and impurities in preparation for galvanizing.
Galvanized treatment:
Galvanizing of welded pipes is done by hot-dip galvanizing or cold-dip galvanizing. Hot-dip galvanizing is to immerse the welded pipe in molten zinc to form a thick zinc layer; cold-dip galvanizing is to plate a layer of zinc on the surface of the pipe by electroplating.
Inspection and Packaging:
Carry out quality inspection on galvanized welded pipes, including appearance, size, wall thickness and galvanized layer thickness, etc. After passing the inspection, they will be packaged and prepared for shipment.
Shipping:
The galvanized welded pipes that have passed the inspection will be loaded onto trucks and shipped to the location designated by the customer.
